Types of COVID-19 Tests

Local MD Urgent Care currently provides PCR, Rapid, and Antibody testing.

The PCR nasal swab is the most accurate way to determine if the COVID-19 virus is present. Patients who need a test for work, school, travel will typically need the PCR nasal swab. Results are typically available within 1-2 days.

If you are planning to travel and need a test, we recommend getting the PCR nasal swab test. The rapid test may also be used in some cases. The rapid test is generally approved for domestic travel. For international travel, please check with the country’s travel advisory for testing requirements. Airlines will typically require patients to test within 72 hours of their flight. We recommend verifying the guidelines set by your airline for the most accurate information.

Rapid testing is 96% accurate and is approved for emergency use by the FDA. Test results are typically available in 30 minutes or less and are available at both of our locations! Local MD Urgent Care offers rapid COVID-19 testing for only $89 at this time!

Local MD Urgent Care also offers COVID-19 antibody testing, including rapid tests with results available in 15 minutes! Patients must be symptom free for 14 days to be eligible for this test. Instead of a nasal swab, this is a blood test, which is sent out to an approved lab and has a turn around time of 3-5 days.

At the time of your visit, the Local MD Urgent Care Healthcare Provider will have a discussion with you about any current or recent illnesses, your potential risk factors for COVID-19 exposure to help you come to an informed decision of what tests to take.
